Texas A \\ \\ x26 M University is represented by Texas A \\ \\ x26 M Aggies football team, the Aggies or Texas. They are a Division 1 college football team. Since their inception in 1996, the Aggies took in the South Division of the Big 12 conference. The home games are played at Kyle Field, an open-air stadium with a capacity of 83,002. Their current head coach is former NFL coach Mike Sherman.
From 1894 to 1902, are independent of a conference Aggies preferences before they joined the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1903. This lasted until 1908, when it again became independent from 1909 to 1911. It was an on-off relationship with the SIAA, until the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association joined in 1913. From 1915 to 1995, they are part of the South-West. From 1996 until today, are part of the Big 12 Conference South Division.

Texas A \\ \\ x26 M Aggies football team won a national title and 19 conference titles since their first participation as a founding member of the Southwest Conference in 1915. Texas A \\ \\ x26 M recognizes only the national title in 1939, but opinion polls have awarded them retroactive titles in 1917, 1919 and 1927.
Texas A \\ \\ x26 M Aggies football history became evident as their game of 1921 between the University of Texas was the first concert, part television play a game of college football.

Texas A \\ \\ x26 million fans for their money? Good as some of the team? S major players were honored for their achievements in the field. Recently, A \\ \\ x26 M junior defensive back Jordan Peterson has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All District Football Team 6. He was appointed by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Since all names district is now a candidate for Peterson Academic All American football team. Peterson makes a gain of 3.8 grade point average, while two-time Academic All Big 12 selection are. In his three seasons with the Aggies, he compiled 74 tackles, four interceptions and was interrupted up 14 other passes. He was a starter for 17 games with the Aggies.
Another A \\ \\ x26 M Football, Cyrus Gray, A \\ \\ x26 M Running Back, has just earned Big 12 Player of the Week honor and a task force of the Week award. This is after rolling a school record 261 yards kick back, and not 98 yards, the first kick off return for the reporting of results during the intense confrontation between Oklahoma. Fellow Longhorn Trent Hunter also received a Big 12 defensive accolade after posting 17 tackles in his debut against the army last September.
