Sichuan, home of the giant panda, will postpone the release of the Hollywood movie Kung Fu Panda for at least 5 days due to a new round of controversy. A performance artist accused the film of mining Chinese moviegoers' wallets after the major earthquake in flying panda from China and other cultural symbols.
While directors John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, said Kung Fu Panda is designed as a "love letter" and an ode to Chinese kung fu and the country of culture and the film has won widespread positive success first in China, Sichuan provincial capital Chengdu five channels of movies released a joint statement last night announcing a postponement of the film.
"Because some groups are not aware of the contents of the film Kung Fu Panda, which was supposed to hit the screens in the country, including Sichuan, June 20, we decided to postpone the release, they announced. "Later we hope to re-introduce the film and distribution to the public in Sichuan, to pave the way for the film."
Sources said that the film will be postponed for five days.
A performance artist claimed that "success".
"In my artistic heart, I can not accept the fact that Hollywood wants a fortune of the Chinese people after the earthquake in Sichuan," said Zhao Bandi in one of his blogs on Bokee.com. "It is a ugly bear. I would not even dignified with the name "Panda".
Although he had not seen the film, it refers to the role (voiced by Jack Black) in the summer blockbuster Kung Fu Panda. Zhao announced to the world's attention for the moment, personally, he would find a cure for his heart by silence, by themselves instead of the comedy cartoon. Presumably his "silence" will start after everyone has heard about in China, his views on the animated film.
Zhao, 42 years, artist and designer, has achieved minor celebrity by a number of exhibitions at home and abroad. Ironically, it operates under the title "Panda Man" because many of his works of art to exploit their own image the panda.
